Yoga for Falls Prevention & Balance

Donation-Based Workshop

Let us know you’re coming!

Leslie Morrill, E-RYT 500 Certified Yoga Therapist has served as the Yoga Therapist at Council on Aging and Area Agency on Aging in Asheville.

Proven and practical techniques from both Yoga and Integrative Medicine will be given in this relaxed workshop setting.

We will discuss and practice methods to help prevent falls and improve balance - simple and easy to apply in everyday life, starting immediately!

SELF-AWARENESS (knowing where we are in space) and FUNCTIONAL MOBILITY (proper standing, sitting, and walking alignment) are KEYS TOO FREEDOM.

SOME TOPICS WE WILL COVER:

MOVEMENTS AND STRENGTHENING EXERCISES TO HELP PREVENT FALLS
HOW TO AVOID SHUFFLING (A FALL WAITING TO HAPPEN)
HOW TO INCREASE JOINT MOBILITY
HOW TO SAFELY PICK UP ARTICLES FROM THE FLOOR
HOW TO SAFELY TRANSITION FROM SITTING TO STANDING AND VICE VERSA
YOGA TECHNIQUES FOR INCREASING PROPRIOCEPTION AWARENESS

This workshop is valuable not only for seniors approaching or in the higher fall-risk age (65 and over, like the workshop presenter herself), but for caregivers, facility staff, and anyone in the eldercare industry!
